You know, I don’t think I’ll be getting round to that last idea, since I’m making the bold anti-hipster move of deleting my MySpace account tonight. Farewell popularity contests, internet memes, lag, cameraphone posers, bloody terrible design, and most of all, Murdoch.
News Corp have decided to auction off the MySpace search function to the highest bidder. Cue Step 1 of “MySpace monetisation” - undoubtedly we’ll see Google AdWords or maybe even MSN’s new AdCenter pushing their ads onto people’s pages. Add in the whole copyright issue (although this is far from unique to MySpace) and I think enough’s enough.
