Video killed the radio star
Thursday, May 3rd, 2007
Pandora are shutting out non-US customers. A damn shame, and probably not the last problem internet radio is facing. That said, I always thought Pandora was too technical – splitting down music to its constituent parts and reassembling them in an utterly mechanical way. Not enough emotion, not enough variety, particularly for us humanist types. Spurned Pandora users: now is the time to fall for last.fm!
I miss last.fm. I miss having a great record shop. I know London has plenty, but I’ve not had time to seek them out. Frankly, I still hear the siren song of Selectadisc and it still feels like adultery when I venture into an HMV.

Slow progress.

It’s been painful. Not the move. That’s been fine. Just the lack of internet. So much information to convey, so little time. Free 30-minute WiFi from the local pub just isn’t enough. I succumbed and decided to pay £13 for a week’s access. Except they don’t accept Maestro. They do accept Switch. Unfathomable.
My blog stats have rightly dipped, but my Google PageRank has risen. Maybe I need to take more 5-week breaks? Perhaps it was motivated by rash comments about the IA community after a few late-night ATP beers and bands. Controversy vs content.
Regardless, given my lack of time, I shall simply attempt to upload my ATP pics. www.flickr.com/photos/cennydd. When I have widespread internet access again, I’ll tell my tales. If you want to stalk me in the interim, try www.twitter.com/cennydd.
