Moratorium
Saturday, June 9th, 2007
It’s been so long I’m just going to declare a moratorium on the previous two months. There’s so much to report I can’t possibly know where to begin. Suffice to say, the job’s excellent and challenging, the house hunt is arduous and vaguely depressing, and the lack of kitchen is putting the waistline under increasing pressure.
A quick word about ATP. I enjoyed it/them greatly but I couldn’t help feeling that it has lost its way slightly. The bands were a bit samey and the sound was patchy, although the vibe was as good as ever.
Highlight of the Fans weekend: poker with Steve Albini, courtesy of Martin actually having the nerve to follow up on Bob Weston’s bold on-stage talk of a poker marathon. Albini’s exactly how you’d expect him to be. Pity none of us had the balls to say what we were all thinking:
I’m obviously still very much sold on the ATP concept, but I do think they need a really inspired curator soon. I don’t think Portishead are it. Anyway, more ATP photos here.
