I remember the kerfuffle this time last year about the &#039;social graph&#039; and cast my mind back to even my own basic knowledge about Social Network Analysis, gained a few years ago from studying some KM theory. None of the &#039;social media enthusiasts&#039; I spoke to had even heard of it.

It was about this time I started to truly loathe the hype.</description>

		<description>It&#039;s even worse in the field of social media, where snake oil salesmen, erm, I mean thought leaders in web 2.0 seem to think they are discovering social activity. Despite there being a great deal of study of this already (and indeed a several thousand years of social activity to study). 

Admittedly trying to read academic works from, say,  Habermas, is not an easy for web designers. But its all there.</description>
