Hi Jo – I'm familiar with Songkick and use it occasionally to scope out new gigs. I think the UX is pretty decent for a small company and it's been interesting to watch the proposition steadily evolve. The main question I have about Songkick is whether it shows sufficient differentiation from last.fm Events, or comparable convenience to scanning gig listings in the window of my local indie record shop. I'll have another poke around when I get the chance.

Cheers,
Cennydd

Nice description sounds like you had a fab time!

You should check out the site I've been working since dec 2009 Songkick.com. It's all about discovering gigs you didn't know were happening before tickets sell out. You simply track artists you like (from your mates ban.d to stadium rockers) and we email you whenever they play in the town you live or any other locations you consider going to concerts in. You can share reviews like this one, photos, videos and friend other gig goers.

You can even import artists from last fm account or download the Songkicker app which imports artists from your itunes library so you don't have to add them manually.

If you do try it out please let me know what you think. We are constantly working on improving our user experience.

Great post Cennydd. Congrats on the great gig!

I love the feeling when you can just play and not think. You can just feel the strings, frets, switches, and knobs; and it all melts together.

Thanks for sharing!
