About

CennyddHi, I’m Cennydd Bowles, and this is my website. Thanks for stopping by.

My work

I work as a user experience designer for Clearleft: in short, this means I make websites easy to use, and help businesses to see why this is good. I’m one of those lucky people who loves what they what they do for a living, so this site is mostly a chance for me to share my passion about user experience, information architecture, interaction design and usability, and how they’re making technology less scary and more useful.

My name

Yes, it’s Welsh. Due to the number of unfamiliar phonemes for English speakers, a pronunciation guide is in order: Kenn-ith, with a hard th (as in ‘bathe’). If you’re still having problems, it rhymes with ‘with’.

This site

This site runs on Wordpress 2.5.1 (using the WP Premium template), and is hosted by Digitalspace. It was previously called ‘The Ineffable Me‘, the title of one of my favourite Sonic Youth songs, but I decided that was a little ego-centric. ‘Ineffable’ alone seems to encapsulate the difficulties of blogging about sometimes quite abstract topics.

The whole site, unless otherwise specified, is released under a Creative Commons License. Obviously, anything I write here is solely my opinion, not that of my friends, my employer, my dentist or anyone else. It’s more fun to be original, I find.

Miscellaneous

I live in Brighton, England, play chess to around 120 BCF (decent club standard), support Cardiff City, play several instruments and have a soft spot for amaretto, typography and modern art.
